Smith's mom was our mystery reader this past Friday. We had her read a hilarious book titled 'How To Lose a Lemur.' The class loves any kind of silly book & this was a big hit! We've been writing 'How To' books in writer's workshop so this was right up our alley!

We spend a lot of time discussing temperature & weather during our calendar time in the classroom. We've even learned how to measure how cold or hot it is outside. We've noticed how crazy & unpredictable Georgia weather can be though. We still have lots of fun outside!
We are missing our little French visitor! As you can see, the class really enjoyed getting to know Gabriel when he was with us for two weeks & we are missing him deeply! We all promised to stay in touch though and be class pen-pals! We can't wait to hear about his next adventures!
The class played a 'Roll the Dice to 100' game using our 100s charts. First they estimated how many rolls it would take to get to 100 on the 100 chart. Then they had to roll a dice & then color in that many spaces on their hundred chart. They repeated this process but they had to alternate the color that they used for each dice roll. Hudson even noticed that when he was 4 away from 100 that his options were limited based on what number he needed to roll in order to finish the game. Smart kiddos! The most popular amount was 27 dice rolls! Check out how much we aged! We loved using the Old Booth App on the iPhone today. The results are hilarious!
I love looking back on every child's writing from the past months. It is amazing to look through their seed notebooks & see the progression of growth in their writing. The kids also love looking back on them & they always feel so proud of their accomplishments.
I recently went through my iPhone photos & found a few from the past few months that I can't believe I forgot to post! Take a look below! Sam made some new friends at recess one day. One of the lizards even jumped onto her leg and then onto her arm!
We have been busy & having a blast since we came back from Christmas break! Our class has been full of wonderful, interesting, & amazingly talented visitors of all kinds! Take a look below at some of our new friends! Gabriel is our new friend all the way from France! He has been with our class for the past two weeks & we will be sad to see him leave! We loved getting to know his family and having his mom as one of our special guests. Wow! What a family! His mother and father met years ago while working on a Cirque Du Soleil show. Karine is a stunt double & her husband is a high wire walker! The kids LOVED meeting her & couldn't get enough of their amazing stories. There's always time for after recess silly face selfies! Dillan's father, Colin, came in one Friday morning to teach us a little bit about his card making business. He even brought the kids special cards that he made for them as a surprise. Then... they got to paint their own picture creation onto canvas & then he made them into cards! I love how different and amazing they all are. The kids had a blast painting! We even met a new doggy friend! Biscuit and Gail Goldberg came to talk with the kids about Biscuit's therapy dog life and how much they both love reading. We are one lucky bunch.
